CDM Facilitator

We are looking for a site co-coordinator/ CDM Facilitator to work for our world wide raw material business in Port Talbot. The position exists to provide specialist advise on health and safety issues during the design and planning phases of construction work and is someone who has and knowledge and experience of planning, management, construction, and as required. The pay for this position is £18.93 on a 36.5 to 40 hour week.

The Role

As a Service Department our customers are at the heart of everything we do. This role is key to ensuring that the service we provide is done so in a safe and professional way.

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager/independent Client representative of your assigned project, the purpose of the role is to advise on safe working practices and procedures via the principles of the Construction Design Management (CDM 2015) and Company Health & Safety Management Systems (CHSMS).

To carry out this role successfully, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Support and advise the project teams/duty holders in the co-ordination, implementation and development of safety systems and procedures (plan, manage, monitor).
  • To help ensure that adequate control measures are in place for the control of Contractors working for the Project & Design department and ensure compliance with appropriate CDM and H&S legislation is maintained.
  • Identify improvements in health, safety and environmental standards in the assigned area/Project construction site.
  • Track and drive safety compliance training within the local area, e.g. HAVS, Fire, Asbestos, Gas Awareness.

Requirements / Personal Specification

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Construction Skills CITB 'Site Managers Safety Training Scheme' certificate or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of Construction techniques and processes.
  • Experience in heavy industries such as steelmaking, major Civils or oil and gas.
