Randstad Engineering are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer on behalf of our client based in Chepstow.

Reporting to the engineering manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer will be required to:

  • To develop new products and/or implement improvements to existing product range by creating feasible, cost effective, reliable, and safe mechanical designs.
  • To develop unique solutions for specific customer requirements.
  • To manage projects using engineering principles and techniques.
  • To prepare technical drawings for new products, quotation offerings and production for custom orders.
  • To perform handwritten calculations and utilise FEA analysis to predict structural behaviours.
  • To produce reports when required to present technical analysis and data.
  • To utilise an ERP system to create, manage and maintain Bill of materials.
  • To create and update technical files to guarantee product compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
  • To perform test and validation of products in accordance with standard test requirements.
  • To keep up to date with all relevant industry standards, regulations and directives and be able to identify any changes that could affect certification or compliance of products.


  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • A creative flair and design ability.
  • Strong Math and CAD systems skills.
  • Good Visual and Spatial awareness.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, able to hit deadlines.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing process and construction methods.
