Mechanical Fitters

Then look no further - We're currently offering an opportunity to work Monday - Thursday at a world class manufacturing plant in Larne. This way, you can enjoy both the long weekend and your job whilst still earning a competitive rate of pay.

Hours of work and salary:

  • Pay - £12.63ph-£16.84ph
  • 37.5 hours per week Monday to Thursday
  • Set shift pattern of 9.75 hours on a Monday and 9.25 hours per day Tues-Thurs
  • 2 weeks day shift and 2 weeks night shift work pattern


  • Set up and assimilate tests for components on special panels.
  • Follow and comprehend verbal, specific and detailed procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform difficult arithmetic calculations in order to perform the duties of the position.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematic drawings.
  • Use a variety of power tools, hand tools and complex testing equipment.
  • Work with limited supervision to test standard generator sets to determine malfunctions and make repairs as required.
  • Perform special tests on generator sets to prove engineering design theory, load and cooling performance, endurance and vibration tests, etc.
  • Performs non-routine tests on generator sets and special panels when only general information is available.
  • Interprets complex prints and electrical drawings to perform tests.
  • Documents and analyses results of tests and provides appropriate feedback. Sets up and simulates test for special panels with the aid of the component documentation.
  • Updates computer records on machine/progress faults.
  • Compliance with safety and quality standards.


  • Experience as a Fitter (Formal Apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant qualification)
  • Previous experience in testing or fault finding environment - preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a lean environment - preferred
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Good attention to detail
  • A good work ethic and attendance rate
  • A keen awareness and commitment to the highest standard of health and safety and quality
